Pet Rock Assignment

Congratulations on your new pet rock! One of the key parts

Of a new relationship is getting to know your other half., assuming your rock is the strong, silent type, this may require, some digging on your part (metaphorically, not literally)., the goal of this assignment is to tell your, pet’s story. this may include some, superficial characteristics, but looks, aren’t everything. i want you to dig, deeper and tell me what made your rock, into the pet you have today., using your observations, your notes from class, textbooks,, reference charts, and online resources, i want you to tell me, the story of how your rock came to be. what makes your rock the rock it is this, story should include properties and classifications of your rock but also describe the, processes that went into determining those properties., this story should include a written narrative, but can also include pictures and, diagrams as you see fit. any conclusions you draw should be backed up with, observations and other evidence..

Predict the formation conditions of a rock based on its physical properties

Narrative is creative, organized and shows an advanced understanding of the properties of the rock and the processes that led to these properties

Includes ● Most applicable physical properties of the rock.

● Clear and accurate explanations of the processes that led to the properties described.

● Complete classification of the rock AND explanation of the evidence and reasoning behind this classification.

Narrative is organized and shows a clear understanding of the properties of the rock and the processes that led to these properties

Does not meet all the requirements for a proficient response, including:

● Narrative is disorganized

● Narrative shows misunderstandings of the properties of the rock and/or the processes that led to these properties

● Does not include major physical properties of the rock

● Incorrect or incomplete classification of the rock

● Limited or missing explanations of processes that led to the properties described

Does not meet most of the requirements for a proficient response, including:
