Zero quality control. Zero price integrity. I am beyond disappointed. Eva quoted $35 to fix a lamp. Considering an entire rewiring kit at Ace is about $14 and a replacement socket alone is about $7 I agreed to let them fix the lamp. Problem 1: At pickup my lamp was tagged $55 for repair. Eva couldn't explain why, said the person was confused but she would charge me $35. Problem 2: Before bagging the lamp and driving back home with my lamp I ask Eva to plug it to confirm it turned back on. The lamp didn't turn on. Clearly it wasn't fixed or checked by anyone prior to calling me for pickup. Eva says leave it and I will have the repair person look again. Problem 3: Eva calls me back and says well the lamp should be rewired to replace the plug and thats going to be $65. I was quoted $35 to fix the lamp. The lamp should be fixed at the quoted price $35. The lamp should have been checked prior to calling for pickup. Complete waste of my time.

There should be a no star option. I took an heirloom lamp there to be rewired. The work done was more than asked for, and the price increased accordingly. I paid and left. When I got it home and out of the box, it was awful, to say the least. I called the shop, and Eva J there went off on me when I also added that my receipt was ripped half. She started yelling about conspiracies and asked what I was accusing her of. I was not accusing her of anything, just asked a question. She said to bring the lamp back to be re-done. I have had to eat that $90 charge as I will NEVER set foot in that place again and will take my lamp elsewhere to see if the damage can be fixed. Scary person, and I honestly felt threatened by her reaction.

Home Works is such a wonderful little boutique in Kensington! If you are looking from a quick break from antique shopping, this place is a great stop. Tons of affordable options and had a half off sale when I stopped by. The manager is very helpful and attentive. Highly recommend!

I recently went to Kensington's antique row to visit my favorite jewelry repair store (Raffie) and discovered a great new shop. Home Works is a delightful boutique that enticed me with its open, fresh feel as I walked by. There are all kinds of whimsical (and useful) things for the house (like the unusual and very affordable set of everyday wine glasses that I couldn't resist); serving pieces, dishes, frames and other such things, many one-of-a-kind. There are also wonderful soaps and candles, and the owner told me she is shortly getting in pieces of art. No website yet. I will definitely go back.
